• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OK Biden fans...

...sell me.

I've been re-learning about him for a couple of hours (after writing him off as a "non-starter" at the beginning of this political season). A quick search here indicates that many of the political junkies in this hidey-hole have been supporters of his in the past.

What say you now?

I like him. I would have preferred to see him at State if Obama is elected, but he's a solid choice for Vice. It'll make an interesting contrast to McCain/Romney or whoever the wrinkled old white haired guy chooses.

Good choice! I know some so-called 'analysts' are calling it a lack of confidence on Obama's part; however, those analysts are either supporters of the right or complete idiots. Joe Biden adds balance to the ticket, and that's what it's all about.

I like 'im...but not sure what effect this will have on broadening the ticket's base. I'm a damned sight happier to see Biden tapped than Billary...LOL

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden:

Then in September 1987, the campaign ran into serious trouble when he was accused of plagiarizing a speech by Neil Kinnock, then-leader of the British Labour Party.[27] Though Biden had correctly credited the original author in all speeches but one, the one where he failed to make mention of the originator was caught on video.[28] Within days, it was also discovered that, while a first year law student at Syracuse Law School, Biden had plagiarized a law review article in a class paper he wrote. Though the then-dean of the law school, as well as Biden's former professor, played down the incident of plagiarism, they did find that Biden drew "chunks of heavy legal prose directly from" the article in question. Biden said the act was inadvertent due to his not knowing the proper rules of citation, and Biden was permitted to retake the course after receiving a grade of F in the course, which was subsequently dropped from his record when he retook the class. Biden also released at the same time the record of his grades as an undergraduate which were C's and D's with the exception of two A's in physical education, one B in a course on English writers and an F in ROTC during his first three semesters.[29] His grades improved later in his undergraduate career but were not exceptional.[29] Further, when questioned by a New Hampshire resident about his grades in law school Biden had claimed falsely to have graduated in the "top half" of his class, (when he actually graduated 76th in a class of 85) that he had attended on a full scholarship, and had received three degrees.[30] In fact he had received two majors, History and Political Science, and a single B.A., as well as a half scholarship based on financial need.[30]

What a great choice.

It is hard to imagine a more hard-core "beltway insider" than Biden--a hard-core Washington lifer. What his appeal will be to most Americans is hard to fathom. A very weak choice for Obama: he played it 'safe', when he needs to swing for the fences, on every at-bat.

He had better pray that McCain shoots himdelf in the foot with his own Veep choice (not a stretch). If, on the other hand, McCain is bold, like choosing Meg Whitman, AND does a one-term pledge (unlikely), this race will be all over, but the crying.

BTW, I don't have a dog in this fight: I think any "winner" of this race is going to wish they'd listened to better career counseling...

What cracks me up with all the analysis for Obama's choice & what I'm sure will be equally in depth regarding whoever is McCain's choice is that the finer points & nuances will be ignored by the vast majority of the voting public on either side - they've made up their mind on the main candidate at this point & really don't care who the veep is.

IMO, a good choice. There would be criticism - legit and otherwise - no matter who was chosen. After an election, nobody seems to care that much who it is.

He's saving that for Hillary.

Hill will do one of two things. Either stay in the Senate and run again if Obama loses, or run for Gov of NY. I don't think she has a place in an Obama admin. There's a lot of pain there, mostly coming from Bill.

Biden is the head of the Foreign Relations Committee. The gives Obama the support the he lacks on the foreign policy issues.

Believe me,
I don't underestimate McCain's ability to lose.
Personally, I wont vote for either one. :salude

I think it's a great choice. Kinda reminiscent of the Dukakis/Bensten ticket.
