• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Now, I know this is a little crazy but is just a curiosity for the sake of it.

Does anybody here have the original invoice (or a photo) of the vintage guitar when bought back in the day? Like when you went to the store and bought that '58 burst or your father, your uncle or your grandmother bought it for you?

Wow, great stuff!

I got to peruse a box of old invoices back in the late 90's but it only went back as far as the shop I worked at opened which was the mid/late 60's IIRC. Such a neat little history lesson. I remember many upon many WTF trade-ins in the 60's/70's up to 80's including a few 50's Les Paul models across the board. No clue if 'bursts as I wasn't paying that type of attention. Still, a whole lot of vintage fender/gibson/etc "gems" came through that place back in the day many traded in on near new guitars, same goes for amps. And after a few minutes looking at invoices the wooshy head & headache I got from that smell was free of charge! Sadly, I'm 99.9% sure that box was thrown in the trash :dang

I bought a '61 Strat a couple of years ago, which included a photocopy of the original purchase invoice. This mentioned that a Gibson Les Paul (serial # 8 2369 - I wonder if anybody knows ist whereabouts) was received in part exchange by the seller G. & M. Music Exchange in Winchester, VA, with a credit of $89.50 being set off from the price for the Strat of $289.50 for this. Presumably given the credit amount it was a Les Paul Junior, but who knows...
