THis is a tough one. On one hand the bobbin plastic looks kind of right, not so machined like new pickups and the typeface on the decal looks right. On the other hand the square in the hole doesnt quite look like any Ive had before. The square is too small and too perfectly centered in the circle. And the clear border around the black area of the decal is wider than any Ive seen. Im not saying its fake but Id be a little cautious. -Ed A

I just sent back a set of fake double blacks and, thankfully, got my refund!

are those PAFs the ones that had the pots with them for 1500.00?

Trustworthy

I do not hink I would have bought my PAF's from a private seller. When I bought mine, I bought them from Dave's Guitar Shop in Wisconsin...great Historics/Murphy there too. A '59 Sunburst sold, but the buyer did not want the covered black PAF's but preferred the set of Zebra's he had. So they took out "mine" and put in the zebras for the guy in trade + cash...I trust Dave, otherwise, forget it! The Gibson Electrics book even warned us about fake PAF's back in the early 80's and late 70's. It's a shame, really.

My Paul is a TONE MONSTER with my 59's in it... :smokin

Mike..

You're one of the lucky one's to be able to get your money back!

What was wrong with them?
I was going to bid on them, but something didn't look right and the price was way too cheap.

Fake PAFs

Goodwood: They were all wrong, e.g., small magnets, wrong holes on top of bobbins, stickers didn't look right, etc. etc. Definitely not PAFs. I've dealt with the seller before on a large transaction and he is a reputable person, I believe he was less knowledgeable than me (that's hard to do, because I would be completely out of my league if it hadn't been for tips from Dave P., Ed A., and Karaoke Karl on this Forum) on what to look for.
