• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Are you asking about this one, 9-1870?

It was mine decades ago but has been gone 30+ years. :)

I knew that, it seemed you were implying that he had more than one 1960 left hand Burst.
Hmm, no sir
As far as I know, there are 3 left handed 1960 Bursts, and of course Sir Paul already has one.

Tom, I was just thinking ":hmm" that there are more than "3" lefty bursts all together (58-60)... 5 or 6 that we know of, other than Paul's 60.

If you know of a 4th 1960 left hand Burst, I'd sure like to hear about it.

As for the total, 4 are known and documented. Rumors and hints of others are out there. If you can tell us more about the others [above the 4 well known ones] please share! :hmm

I thought I remembered reading a thread here several years ago questioning the authenticity of the McEnroe's 'Burst because of the split in the top seam. Or is my memory failing me?

I played The MacEnroe Burst back in 1985, it had the split even then. It was less faded when I saw it, than it is now, and had both of it's pickup covers. I remember it had a burn in the trussrod cover and the bridge had been replaced. The pickup surrounds were not original either. However, with all of it's provenance, I've never heard it suggested it to be anything other than legit.

The lefties had a few weird things going on construction-wise, I could see why questions would be raised, though. You should see the hack construction of the 1954 goldtop I used to own. But, it was the real-deal, and a tone monster!

Paul does have a '59 Historic Reissue . It's one of my limited runs called the DaPra Caramel Fade . Brian Ray was the "endorser " if you will for this run of guitars I had made at Gibson Custom Shop in 2011 . After talking with Brian I asked if he thought Paul would like one of these guitars . He wasn't sure but in January of 2012 the lefty Caramel fade was produced. I picked the top to match closely to his '60. Brian said not to make it to flashy looking with a crazy top. I have a photo of Paul with him playing that reissue in the studio . I believe Brian and the guys gifted him the guitar . I never heard from Paul but evidentally he does use the guitar in the studio. Nice to know that one of my guitars is in the hands of the master of songwriting.

On page 14 of this thread, Paul is pictured in the studio with this gifted '59 Les Paul Reissue. Photo # 557 and 558
