Hey Pearly owners,

Can you tell me, which neck profile has the gibbons signature model. What is your opinon, is it a D,C,V, flat C or what do you think ?

The Pearly reissues don't have any different neck shape than a regular R9 and they vary quite a bit as all of the R9's do. I've had about 10 of them and none of the necks were the same.

When you think about it that's a bit of a worry really.
So Gibson didn't standardise the range to the neck shape of the Pearly Gates LP.
Why would they do this? and was this the same with the Dallmans,Bloomfields etc?

Looks like the Melvyn Franks axes have neck shapes all over the place as well. Just pick the one that fits best and yer good to go I guess.

I have played a signed and a VOS PG's...neck is not the same but much more confortable to me than few R9's I have owned and played.
My friend and I we have compared the signed one with a real 59 Burst and it's very very close.
If Mark have played 10 of them he may have more to say about the difference between the signed and aged versus the VOS.The difference does exists.

My pearly is like a C-shape with a little bit of shoulder and thicker than a regular R9.

The VOS I tried here earlier in the year had a good C shape neck, unfortunately I didn't like the guitar soundwise and the $$ didn't match up at NZ$15K..........just too much compared to my trusty R0.

My PG has a rounder and thinner neck than the 50th R9s I've played.
Kind of scary to hear that PG neck profiles are all over the place. If that is the case, what was the point of them tracing the real PG's neck?

What are you basis this on - playing only two PGs?

^ How did Mark's post answer my question?
andreja said there's a difference between the aged and VOS. I disagree.

My PG has the typical profile that Gibson described to me: R9 profile with less shoulders. The "less shoulders" makes it feel thinner. PF told me they digitized the neck of the original. I thought they had a machine cut the neck from the digitized measurements? That would make them all the same, except for the final finishing smoothing done at the end. But still, they should all be close.

Mark's seen ten of those LPs through his store, now I'm presuming that that was a cross section of VOS,Aged and Aged Signed.
So if you want you could email him and ask him your question.
