• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Let the pictures scroll, it's there.

I see the photo, but there is no listing for it being "for sale" that I could find.
It's not with the other vintage Gibsons for sale and I saw no other category it would fit in. :hmm

It's all about Greeny, not GM IMO. That was the LP that started it for me. Ten feet from PG at the Fillmore West in 1968. Nobody could come close to what he was doing.

Fun thread on the other forum with this quick update.

I talked to Justin at Music ground, he confirmed 500kusd for the guitar.
I imagine the guy who bought for it for 1 million dollars few years ago.....

Peter Green is somebody I respect and admire musically maybe more than any artist, and as a man, especially for fighting back from his health issues.

So obviously this guitar and the music Peter, and to a degree, Gary Moore later made with it are special.

I've thought about this for a while now and here is my take.

Now if you look at the instrument on its merits as a '59 Burst it's not going to be a "Donna" or a "Believer Burst" etc. It's a road dog with modifications made and a broken headstock and an unorthodox neck shape. Yes the out of phase sound blah blah..

But it's the hands it was in. :2cool

If you look at it on the merits of the music made with it and the artistic history then it should be in the RNRHOF or somewhere and in a glass case.

$500K? Well, depends. Clapton's Blackie at $900K, Dylan's Strat for $1M. It's a good price for it's history from that point of view, if it was bought for a museum.

$500K as a '59 Burst? Not a chance..

Funny, I just finished watching Joe B, live at Shepherds Bush Empire, where Mike Hickey is seen holding the guitar.
When asked what it would be worth, Mike's response was $500k.
:hmm
I personally always loved the unique tone of that guitar, in Peter or Gary's hands, or JB's for that matter.

500k would be a steal, imho. I consider this guitar to be one of the most famous and important celebrity-owned iconic Les Pauls alongside with Pearly Gates, Pages No. 1 & 2 and the Perry/Slash/Perry.

However, I agree, that no other, non celebrity-related Les Paul is worth 500k, killer top or not.

$500K for a '59 Burst in that condition is never going to happen. Only a multi millionaire Fleetwood Mac fan that isn't a player would pay that. PG is a hero of mine but I wouldn't ever pay that if I had the spare cash.

$100-$120K I would think would be a good price on its merits. When you start getting to more than that there are better instruments out there for players, and certainly collectors.

120k for the Greeny? April comes very early this year. :ganz
