• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Yes ... The pickup was rewound with formvar, (strat) wire when it was repaired, (the pickup was missing at once stage and arguably - when it was then reinstalled by accident the 'other way around') ... Chances are, he liked the tone ... :)

great stuff. amazing tone-

technically reminds me a little of SRV the way he strums the whole time rhythmically but uses left hand for note definition.

reminds me of this a little

watching that vid of peter green looks like he's using the bridge the whole time for what its worth

but that whole reversed Pup thing with his guitar is such a cool part of les paul history.

I find I get more even string response with the bass side of the pickup(s) back a good bit from the strings relative to the treble side-

I read recently that Jimmy Page bought this guitar when a friend of his told him it was for sale and said, "you absolutely have to have this guitar!"

Where did you read this? :wah

I think if Page owned the Peter Green Burst at some time we would have heard about it. :hmm

I think it was the other way round. Jimmy Page advised someone else possibly Kirk Hammett to buy the guitar.

I think it was the other way round.

That's my understanding too. Kirk rang Jimmy for his opinion, Jimmy gave the guitar a thumbs up.

We have at least 3 people here very very close to the deal, I'm sure they'll confirm the actual course of events if prodded gently.

Excerpt:
“The evening of the day I looked at it,” Hammett says, “I sent a message to Jimmy Page through a friend of mine saying, ‘Jimmy, what do you think of this guitar?’ And Jimmy’s reaction was, ‘I remember that guitar. You should absolutely buy it.’

“So I guess I should throw that in for the record that I have Jimmy Page’s approval. When Jimmy says, ‘Yes, you should buy it, Kirk,’ then it doesn’t get much better than that!”
