• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is there anyway to see the what color the pickup bobbins are before actually taking the covers off?

you can sometimes look into the hole where the lead exits the base, if the hole is large enough you can see that bobbin

on the pole adjust side you can remove one of the poles and look in there to see bobbin color

on the slug side you can remove one of the two bobbin retention screws on the base; you could do this for both bobbins

I also use a small flash light when looking for bobbin color 'cause my old eyes be olds :ROFLMAO:

So I learned something in the ten min since posting, dimarzio owns the “tm” for double whites? So is it safe to assume Gibson does all black bobbins now?

Nice guitar. Personally, I'm not a fan of double blacks on historics because I immediately think Les Paul Classic.

DiMarzio's trademark is for exposed double whites.
