• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

While you're right on, I've bought "fake stuff" that ended up being real. Anything can happen.

I will add, having worked on Denmark St, that the calibre of ‘expert’ there who would genuinely know about such things is embarrassing, and it’s be the last place I’d go have PAFs authenticated….if I needed such help.
The fact is the tech didn’t immediately dismiss these as garden variety Classic ‘57s speaks volumes, of either complete ineptitude or extreme politeness!

Please read my first post.

I did not say that I had bought them in the 60,s, the story I was given when I bought them, was they came from a 60,s guitar.

Being potted I could not remove the covers

I said I would put better pics, but after your very immature, slanderous post, decided not to bother.

They were looked at by a tech, who could not decide what they were. If he had, I would not have sought more opinions

I really wish now that I had not bothered

So moving along please see the pics of my favorite guitar

A 1939 Recording King MK5 made by Gibson for Montgomery Ward

enjoy

I mean whether they are real are not is wholly irrelevant. People who revel in being self righteous dicks is the actual issue. It's really not that difficult to point out things without being an ass but some people just can't seem to manage that. It's endemic to the modern way of being it seems, which is sad.

Thats because the gold lettering is silkscreened onto a black rectangle. Any movement changes the position of the lettering on the black field. In printers terms, the alignment of the colors is called "registration" of the colors. The PAF decal is tthree "colors" clear decal material, black, gold. No the decals arent trimmed from a sheet of "decal paper" like most modern decal repros printed in laserjet or inkjet printers
Are you a Pressman ?

Guys, I deleted several of your posts. Sorry, but IMHO you went way over the top in response to the OP. I did receive some concerns from other members.
Well... with your deletions of posts (from a long standing member with a wealth of invaluable knowledge), now (totally new) member windys post #12 and (some of ) post #24 is somewhat out of context, don't you think? Shouldn't these 2 posts be nuked as well?
