Im told that many lespauls from the 50's
have tone caps that have drifted to the .030and up range
also Ive heard that many of the pots may be as low as
in the 300k range
just wondering if this is true how does this all fit into
perspective
wouldnt that give a guitar a dark muddy sound?
If the originals sound good with those values
why not put the same values in the Historics
that would make them closer
wouldnt it?
perhaps those values offset the clarity and brightness
of pafs to give them a warmer sound
I dont know personally
what do you think?
thanks
Bill

Sure, the old caps and pots vary wildly. The last old '50's Centralab I found read almost 700K on my ohm meter.

If you have a real bright guitar, then using a pot with a lower value can smooth out some of the highs.
