• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

FYI:

I happened to setup an appointment with Gibson's "Virtual Guitar Tech Service" for this morning to ask question about the bridge on my WesMo L-5 and during the course of our conversation, I asked about Archtops and whether or not Gibson is producing them any more. The tech told me that they are making them, but only through the Custom Shop's "Made to Measure" program.

Just thought I'd pass that along.

Ah, makes sense, I heard they were discontinued but then saw a dealer or two had new-ish ones.

I don't care what anyone says, it's a ****Ing shame a company of their size/caliber can't manage to continue their tradition of building the classic American carved top at a reasonable price. Oh well, Heritage is still building 575s and Eagles between 3-5k.

Couldn't agree more. Of course, the market for archtops certainly isn't what it used to be and needless to type, they make their money on Les Pauls. Not that there's anything wrong with that though.

Indeed a shame not to continue with the manufacture of arch tops. It is a facet of the legacy of the company and deserves to be continued. I get that it’s not a profit center like the solid bodies, which are, let’s face it, overpriced.

Having them only available M2M is better than not, but for me it casts a negative shadow on the current ownership/management.

Is it possible we come to rue the days of Henry J? I wonder.

I agree, at least you can get one if you wanted one, but can you imagine that we'd think that? At least HJ kept the history alive.
