• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My KR12 is such an inspiring amp to play that I had to pull the trigger on Lou's Bluesbreaker, the monster 2-12,
handwound transformers and handmade speakers to boot!
(when you're handbuilding your own speakers you're pretty hardcore) :lol

Lou has been incredible to work with, spent hours with me discussing amps, tone, gear. He is one of the true masters at creating amps that nail that authentic illusive, old school tone!
I'm pumped boys!
Review to follow once it arrives!

One thing to keep in mind about Louis Electric....

His transformers are not purchased from one of the top 3 transformer houses like every other boutique amp builder buys from....
They are designed and hand wound by Louis Electric.....

Also his speakers are hand made as well...the paper voice coils are hand wound, varnished and baked and assembled by hand as well...

We were shooting for this weekend. The problem finding a box big enough for shipping. The dimensions are the same as the original bber, a pretty massive 23 1/2 by 32 by 10 1/2. :wow

Kim have you checked out the samples on Lou's site?

From what I heard.... He has a "Baby Blues Breaker" amp that is a bit smaller box but packs the same tone and punch.....check that one out...

Man I'm jealous. The clips on his site sound amazing to me. I really want a KR12. Too much $ for me, but they sure sound like they're worth every penny.

Congrats!

I was really torn between the baby and the 2-12. The baby is much more portable and packs the same old school punch. But, Lou gave me a screaming deal on the big combo.

I've been completely blown away by the KR 12. For my taste, it's a truely inspiring amp to play. It covers everything from the best Tweed Twin to plexi Marshall to all points in between and beyond, really incredible versatility.
The negative feedback pot let's you completely loosen up the feel and tone of the amp.

www.louisamps.com I have had major conversations with him and If I wanted to go Boutique His amp would be the first I would buy, but they are too loud for my gig situations, and i just don't need another house amp. He is a quality guy and will spend the time talking to ya. He is top notch, he sent clips of the amp on a CD before he put them up on his site. I am glad that someone got one of these on the forum. I would love to see pics and some sound clips.

Dave,
Do you know who did the clip for the KR12.
He sounds just like Anson.
He definatly caters to some of my all time faviorates:
Hubert Sumlin
Duke Roberlard
Ronnie Earl

I also thought the playing was very tasty on the KR12 clips. Lou told me he was some 21 year old guy whose name I can't remember. I'll ask him when I talk with him.
He also mentioned that Dicky Betts guitar player did the Baby Bluesbreaker clips.

I've never had an amp builder, or anyone for that matter, spend the kind of time with me that Lou did. We probably spent hours discussing my ideal or "truest" tone, the real esoteric inside tone stuff. The difference is that Lou really delivers. He's a very inquisitive super down to earth guy who doesn't quit until he nails it.
I was totally blown away with tone and incredible versatility of the KR12, one satisfied customer. But, Lou kept telling me about upgrades/adjustments to tweek it even further.

Kim, you and I have the same tastes in guitarists!
Congrats on your amp Dave, I'd like to get one but I'd have to sell all my Victorias!

Nice amp.
Odd he'd repro a RadioSpares OPT when Claptons' was purported to be a Drake, used w/KT66s...

In case you didn't know what the KR stands for....
That is the amp that Lou built for Kieth Richards....Kieth has recorded with it with the Stones and has used it live in some situations...
Lou can't use Kieth's name even though Kieth doesn't mind...it's Kieth's laywers and management that won't allow it...
He also built amps for Danny Gatton...Danny used Lou's tweed Twin on tour and loved the custom output transformers for the big punchy tone..

I'd love to AB my Vic Twins against Lou's Tweeds. That'd be one hell of a shootout!
I sold my Lightning to finance the Bluesbreaker, no regrets. I still own my old DC-30.
Lou played the babybluesbreaker over the phone for me today.
Lou's amps have a LOT of balls!
