• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

GT-2

Thanks Phil. I also prefer the Classic and clean settings on my GT-2 also.

I just need to find a chunk of time and do some experimenting.

Marshallhead, I was planning on running the head clean with the GT2 anyway. I have found a sweet spot to have a nice clean and a good classic overdrive and have the Slash lead tone with the GE7.

Phil, I like your approach to getting more gain. Once I get the pedal, I'm going to try using the GT2 as a boost for rhythm overdrive (by setting the GT2 to a clean/classic sound) and use the GE7 for leads with the GT2 turned off.

I was going to try the TradeMark10 into the head to get an idea of what the GT2 would sound like, however the Direct Out on it is a friggin' XLR... I tried the headphone out but the volume is too weak and didn't seem to have all the low end that I was expecting... I will try to get an XLR-1/4" cable and see what happens tomorrow.

Thanks again to all of you who have answered my questions =)

I finally got a XLR-1/4" Cable and ran the TradeMark10 into the Slash head. It sounds pretty good using the clean on the amp with the Hotplate removed or set to 0, however the organic feel is gone and the low-end is like nothing compared to the amp itself. Is that the case with the real GT2? Do you get a somewhat comparable EQ with it versus the amp? I know the dynamics and sheer tube tone is not going to be there, but man it made the amp sound like a Valvestate! My Johnson Millenium 250W Head can deliver much better tube like tone with high gain than with the TradeMark10 into the Slash. I tried Phil's approach, which was to run the SansAmp circuit clean/classic(flat)/cali on top of the gain and it still didn't sound exactly right... I'd hope that the GT2 would sound much better.

i'll say it again

the tm10 sounds nothing like the gt2 plugged into the amp, besides, using the tm10 direct out xlr to 1/4 causes an impedence mismatch if im not mistaken-you would need a line transformer. the pedal is much more "interfaceable" with amp inputs. ia have so much bottom end with the gt2 its disgusting, real deep and thick:dude

I've never tried to do what you're doing with the TM10, but I agree with Marshallhead about the GT-2. The bottom end can get DEEP if you want it to, just futz around with the eq on your amp and the pedal itself.
