Hi @ all,

i'm thinking about getting me a Gary Rossington Les Paul and found for example this one: http://www.maverick-music.com/gibson-guitars/2002-gibson-gary-rossington-59-les-paul-standard

What do you think the asking price should be like? I found another one but don't remember where and they ask for 10 Grand. Is that a reasonable price for this and what was the street price in 2002?

Any information is highly appreciated

edit: there you go, the other one: http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/...-Gary-Rossington-Les-Paul-Aged-Skynyrd-Burst/

some of the delivered stuff stayed with the former owner i think as there is the T-Sirt missing and the wall mount/display. Would this affect the value in a remarkable way?

Others here may be closer to the current market, but I think they go in the $6k-$7k range these days. I believe I paid $4,500 for mine in 2002. Hope this helps. :hank

thank you guys. I'm afraid this axe might be scratching the 10k mark as long as bought from a pro. Around maybe 8k from a private hand.

Is it worth that much dough though?

For that much dough on a guitar I would absolutely have to play it first. Still, its a tough call.

not much of a depreciating market on this one, right?

$7,000.00 - $8,500.00 is the going rate and has been for the last few years. If they are priced right, these guitars don't last long.

Can't see much of the top on the Maverick one, any better pic? (great seller btw, insanely well-packed guitars but uses FedEx which gave me a few sleepless nights. Request USPS!)
I don't like the Music Zoo one and doubt it would sell at 10k.
Bid $6500 and settle for $7k ($7.5 if it has a nice top and all the goodies).

If the Rossington Les Paul is modded significantly, that's a price deduction. Customized guitars play to the whims and desires of their owners, not necessarily the wants of potential resale buyers. Most resale buyers want their pricey Les Paul Signature guitars in original condition, at the time of sale.

I'd estimate that for an all original "Tier 1" Rossington Les Paul with a nice figured top, and no mods, $8,000 would be a reasonable price.

I would deduct up to $2,000 for a substantially modded Rossington Les Paul, especially if the carved maple top was unattractive, the tuner holes were enlarged for after-market tuners, or the neck/headstock has been repaired (Tier II sub-group).

For example, it could cost ya' $1K or more to return a modded Rossington to original condition, that's if you could find the original parts. So say $6K roughly for this "Tier II" sub-group.

It's just my informal jargon to distinguish between modified and non-moddified Rossington Les Pauls. I figured that would be clear, given that "Tier 1" and "Tier II" were placed in quotation marks.

There was time when those things were worth 10 grand. I would say $7,500 is the going rate. Maverick Music charges way over retail
