I just bought a slightly used ‘57 Jr from Music Zoo. It’s a 2017 and is suppose to be all Hide Glue construction and the Mahogany body & neck are “Roasted”.
I was wondering if anyone here has one and what your opinion is of it vs. the non-roasted version. The one very weird thing to me is that it’s Sunburst but screened “TV Junior” on the peghead. Wha..?
Cheers/ Thanks!

I don't have one... butI recall when they did this.

Music Zoo was doing "roasted" in their exclusive dealer run for a while, circa 2015-7. The temperature treatment removes excess moisture to stabilize the wood, and purportedly enhances sonic resonance, etc.

There are planks and standard LPs, some aged too. That the Jr has TV Move silkscreen is consistent with the dealer run, buy I don't know WHY they spec'd it... have you tried calling the Zoo to inquire why?

Either way, I bet they are nice... enjoy! :salude

Tell us how it sounds!

I am interested as I can see SOME point to the roasting of wood.

I also have a smoker out back I am thinkin' of chuckin' a few into.

If roasted works then SMOKED gots to be goodr' n' heck!

Ren, Ya always crack me up!! LOL! The guitar sounds just amazing! I'm really impressed with it. I know my friend, the late Mike Lipe who owned & built "Lipe Guitars" used "Roasted" woods on the majority of his builds and now I see why! This new Junior sounds more like a well broken-in old one. I have some `50's P-90's, so I'm going to see which one sounds best. It's pretty nice right off. I put a set of Pyramid round core Monel's ("Monel Classics") strings on it. They sound so much better than the garbage D'addario's that Gibson has made, but even with the rubbish Gibo strings it sounded great and sounds 10x better with the Pyramid's!
It's a wonderful guitar and I put a machined compensated ABM wrapover on it and lowered the nut as it was a good 1/8" too high. But most ceratinly a KEEPER!
