• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

my favorite overdrive for my Marshall 1974x, is the Mad Professor Royal Blue. That pedal works best for me, maybe because its not as compressed, and its a low wattage amp

I won't go back to the beginning of time, but in recent years, I've tried and liked:

Maxon OD808
Barber Direct Drive
Barber LTD
Menatone Blue Collar (very nice)
Fulltone Catalyst (current use, replaced a fuzz face with it)
(all with that typical mid hump and compression of any 808)

But I also like to run a non-compressed, flatter overdrive on my board like:

OCD (current use)
Menatone Red Snapper
Maxon OD820 (Klon clone, sort of, really nice)

Plus, I had a Fulldrive 2 Mosfet Anniversary which does both compressed and non-compressed.
I never bonded with the Fulldrive

What a great pedal! I need to track down an old 3-knob someday.

What a great pedal! [Blue Collar] I need to track down an old 3-knob someday.

I just sold off my Mk2 on eBay, along with my 820.
Looking at a J. Rockett Archer to replace the 820.

Currently using: (1) Analog Man King of Tone, v.4; and (2) Menatone Red Snapper (has high gain on tap); (3) Tube Screamer.
