• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just got one (Gloss).

It's easily the best guitar I've ever had, and not because it was the most expensive LP I've ever purchased, but it's a freak sonically.

I have a fantastic 58 Tobacco and a GT 57, And I've had many Les Paul's come and go, murphy's, et el.

First, it's incredibly resonant, and you can hear that right off the get go. Chimes, open sounded, angelic like if I may be so bold to note.

The pickups are unusual, specifically wound to sonically match Rick's 59, and you can tell. The one thing I noticed is the neck pup is louder than the bridge, and while they are wound hot, you wouldn't think so as there is no excess to it's character as you would expect for a hot pick up.

Well, at least the one I have is by far different all in a good, well fantastic way. It's light too, I still have to weigh it, but I'll say somewhere about 8lbs.

I wasn't expecting this good a guitar, no offence Gibson, but price doesn't promise performance, but if the others are anything like this one, it may just be worth it.

I can't unfortunately try any others, aged or otherwise, so all I have is this one (and my first true historic fwiw) to speak on. It was go big or go home....I went big.

Stores should have hallmark cards on site and a flower shop coupon for just these kinds of occasions.

It's a solid thumbs up

I have one and love it- there are photos around here somewhere from Steve Rose back when it was sitting next to the actual Principal Skinner. I think the aging is amazing and it feels great! Especially like the faded neck and back. Looked pretty darn good sitting next to the real '59

I am very pleased. Here is a photo attached-

I was able to tour Gibson Custom end of July to order guitars for our 2 Gibson Retail locations. I had a chance to play probably 30 Reissues and ended up choosing 12 for our stores. I was able to grab a Rick Neilsen Les Paul (#74) for myself. I was playing all of the guitars acoustically without an amplifier. I was amazed how the guitars that were in the 8.0-8.8 lb. range were lively and responsive. It's a fantastic guitar and my second Les Paul, my first was the "Wheeling Burst". Mine is 8.3 lb. I was able to tour the factory with Wayne Green, a 39 year employee. I got to meet a nice bunch of folks there who absolutely love what they do. I've been able to play a lot of Reissues over the years, 58's, 59's and 60's and I love my RN. I was hoping for a Cherry Sunburst but this guitar claimed me and flew back with me on the plane. It's lively, when you play an E chord or anything anywhere on the neck, for example, the whole guitar resonates. I love the neck, full but nicely rounded. I saw two guys at the factory shaping the necks by hand. Love the pickups although it's taken a bit to get used to the extra output as opposed to a Tele or Strat which I play a lot of. I've waited a long time for this guitar.

Absolutely!

You will need to tweak your amp and pedal settings as these guitars sound different. The more you play it the more you will find sounds that you won't get in another guitar.
Have fun! That's where its at!
