• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

RIP Dusty Hill

He had such a great bond with Billy Gibbons. The perfect sideman.

The last time I saw him was after a sold-out show in the Imperial Palace casino In Biloxi, MS. I was buying a t-shirt, and he came strolling out the door with the rest of the audience, by himself. He said “hi” after I recognized him, and headed off in the direction of the blackjack tables.

Dusty passed away at his home in Houston, TX -- this according to his bandmates, Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard.

They write, "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C." The boys add, "You will be missed greatly, amigo."

RIP Dusty. Happy Trails To You.

Last ZZ Top in October 2019, the 50th Anniversary Tour. They were in fine form.

I picked up my guitar earlier today and immediately launched into some of my favourite ZZ Top riffs, and now I’ve just read the sad news 😞
RIP Dusty, thanks for all of the wonderful music and performances over the past 50 years.

News of Dusty Hills death felt like a punch to the stomach, and I feel a little sick. I know our thoughts, best wishes and prayers go out to his family, friends and band mates.

A consummate musician who's contribution to music will never be forgotten. RIP.

I saw them in Zurich, Switzerland in a small venue right on this tour, when nobody over here really knew them. At the beginning of the show the stage was absolutely dark. Then there was this power chord that could have shook the foundations of this planet. The lights went on and there stood the Reverend with this tiny little Chiquita travel guitar... That's what ZZ Top always were: The only rock band serious enough to make fun of themselves. Ride on, Dusty!
