• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

RIP Eddie Van Halen, 65

Celebrate his immense talent and enjoy what he has left for us to enjoy.

Take another listen to what you have and just try and play that(!).

Full speed, Edward 😎😎😎

65 doesn't seem old anymore. It's a real shame. But I got the impression he lived his life the way he wanted to. RIP.

A true innovator who always played at 100% and put on a spectacular show. When you heard him play, you knew it was him.

Perhaps a little underrated as a rhythm player. Check out Top Jimmy or Hot for Teacher.

He inspired me to pick up the guitar. A very sad loss.

Great shame.
I started playing in the early 80s.VH were never big in the UK, apart two hits with Jump and Why Can't This Be Love. Nevertheless, I went through the learning the tapping etc. My first guitar project was a Frankenstrat out of my first cheap guitar. The music... ultimately, not really my bag.
The biggest thing I got from EVH was not taking it too seriously. Enjoy it. Have fun. Smile.
EVH RIP

Really sad day. Makes me really wish Jimmy Page would get something together and go out and play. He’s probably content in his current lifestyle. I’m sure he knows if he wanted to, he could put together about any type of group and tour. Selfishly would be great for us - but maybe not for him?

RIP EVH:dang

Eddie was without a doubt a wizard on the 6 string. I heard someone today say that he and Hendrix were the goal posts. I would add that LP, Chester and Django were also in there from different eras but definitely important contributors. Eddie brought an emotional playing style to the time I was growing up that I can't think of later examples duplicating to his level of skill sets. He will be missed. Yeah Page has been a slouch for too long. Time to get something done before it's too late dude; yeah I double dare you!

I was in High School when the first album came out. Everybody I knew was into Van Halen, and so was I. I tried doing all the tapping and stuff just like everybody else during that era, but realized that maybe I should take a different path. I loved his rhythm guitar playing, he really doesn't get enough credit for that. RIP Eddie

Yes he was truly greatness this was pretty hard to hear. Saw the last Dallas concert in 2016 the reunion tour of 2008 was amazing Wolfgang was like 17 in 2008. Saw with Hagar few times. Sucks Sammy and Eddie never reconciled at least I don’t think they ever did?
