• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Mike S. wrote an article about these on LPF. The ones with open zebra pickups are custom shop models. Yes, you read that right, custom shop models. It was a small run.

The ones with gold hardware / pickup covers and with the blue or green finish that would fade real bad were USA models with different pickups from the custom shop models - and the USA ones had a hand rubbed finish. They came in several colors, but only the blue and green faded. Here is Mike's article:

Correct! Thanks and sorry to revive a dormant thread. I believe these tops had hand-rubbed 'aniline dye' finishes with 490r/498t gold pups. The blue one I posted earlier from Mike's collection is my most favoritist paul ever.

Wish Mike S would chime in as to whether the zebra 57 pup'd Custom Shop Classics were 9-hole or solid
