I use a JCM800 2204 set with the pream on 3-4 and the master up to about 3 usually. This gets me a clean-ish sound that is lively enough to cut through my band. I've had great results with my tubescreamer and Guv'nor, but I just got a used GT2 pedal. It sounds pretty cool, but very compressed though my marshall.

Anybody out there have some good settings for these things?

okay

...you know my amp and guitar. BTW, it has Antiquities in it right now.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the band Saves the Day. They're an Emo band from the East coast, and whether you'd like them or not, the lead guitarist's tone is what I think a Marshall should sound like - and I'm not even sure if he uses a Marshall!

From their Album "Stay What You Are", check out the songs 'All I'm Losing is Me' and 'At Your Funeral'. The guy sort of has an AC/DC sound with a tad more gain, but still retains clarity.

Thanks

ok gotcha

your amp-set pres to 6-10-bass 10/mid 2/treble 4-6---try to raise the presence IF you need more cut-sansamp set level to 11 oclock treble to 9 oclockish- bass to the little arrows- drive at 11-12 oclock-off axis,clean,british-bottom line get the amp sounding fat and CLEAN,then tweak the pedal as you see fit(on the classic setting there is hardly any compression)-a 100 watter will give more uumph but this should get you in the ac/dc plus a little more gain-heres another tip-if you run an overdrive after the gt2 it will give a great boost for lead(think maxon od 808-tubescreamer-something along those lines) set for just level boost and tone set to smooth the highs(dist almost off) hope this helps

Justin, I agree more or less with Marshallhead's post and I used one of these pedals in front of a Marshall JCM 900 for about 5 years. My only tweak is that I prefer the 'classic' mic setting to get those Marshall tones. Then again, I was using a semi-distorted 900 and Marshallhead uses vintage plexis set clean, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Play around for as long as you need and I guarantee you'll find a couple of sounds that you really like.
