• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How does the back of the peghead look where the splices were inserted?

Amazing! You should be very happy with that restore. You got some great work from those luthiers (and they should be very proud of the work that was done.) It so cool to see these old guitars that were bound for a "part 'em out" fate be returned to this state. Stunningly beautiful.

Have you had a chance to play it yet? How does it sound?

oh no, I haven't seen it other than the pics here. When Greg gets it finished, if he has time he's going to do a quick video sound clip for me. I'll post it on here.

I'm in Calgary, Canada, BCR is in Lemoyne, PA. That's about 2500 miles away from me. I know a couple of very good luthiers here, one guy I consider excellent.

But, this isn't just 'a guitar' to me, this is an extremely important guitar to me. This is my one shot at going full circle back to the guitar I started on. There's only one guy I trusted to do it right. Even at that, Greg exceeded my hopes for how it would turn out.

Sure, it's harder not having the guitar close by so I can pop in to watch the process. But as you can see, I made the right choice.

Greg likes his splines! They did a masterful job concealing it. Nice work, Greg!

That's a wonderful story and I am so glad you are back in "Special LP's." Great guitars. Mine is also a 57 and the neck couldn't be any better for shape. I really enjoyed this restoration as the 50's guitars just have that it factor. This will be enjoyed by many on down the line too. Enjoy in great health. :dude: :hippy :hippy :hippy

Greg and company, fantastic Job!!!!

Thanks man, I am looking forward to finally getting my fingers around that neck. My old '55 had a 2x4 with the corners rounded off. This one should be a lot nicer. One of the reasons I wanted a '57. Also, the high logo, I know it's unimportant, but I do prefer the look.

I thought I'd toss in a pic of my old one, this is around 1967. Odd '55 Special, trap tail, ABR1, reflectors, rubber switch ring like a '58, Sunburst? It was a great old guitar though.
