• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Saw my first Burst yesterday.

And I got to strum it a bit before handing it over to my pal Billy Ozzello . Totally took me by surprise seeing the guy (totally forgot his name but he was a heck of a nice guy to let me play this 59 Burst) come through the door with a Cali Girl case. I said "hey, that's a Cali Girl case. Cool! What's in there?"
This was in there.

That's me looking stunned as ever Lol. Someone here may recognize the guitar. The gentleman that came in with it said it once belonged to Ed King I think. It was an amazing experience is all I know for sure. Yeah, I'm a believer now! They do sound killer in person don't they?:dude:

Awesome! Looks like you're enjoying it too!

I unexpectedly was able to play a Burst for the first time a couple weeks ago. The crazy thing about it was even though I had the thing built up in my head pretty well, it was many times better than what my pre-determined expectation was. I was totally, and tonally blown away.

I've played a few CS/TH LP's every year at dealers for several years, and never was really inspired by them vs. what I already have. That Burst was so much better than what I have now, it's like my guitar isn't even a guitar, seems more like a potato with strings in comparison.

I enjoyed the honor of holding it and other than a couple strums unplugged I mostly just wanted to examine the feel of the neck. It's an amazing profile and the nicely rolled edges welcome the hand like few other guitars I've ever played. Basically I had it in my mitts for about 2 minutes and handed it over quickly to Mr. Ozzello who's deft playing skills drew forth the incomparable vintage Gibson tones. Personally the treat of holding it for those brief moments was rare and appreciated indeed. If I'd played it through the amp I'm afraid I might be ruined for the kind of instruments I can actually afford for life lol. I know the owner told me his name and I remember thanking him and shaking his hand but, in the presence of such a nice instrument my memory for things like names just skatters I guess. Whoever you are, thanks again and that was a choice guitar.:salude

Did you catch the ser. #?

Sorry, no I did not. I was most interested in the front of the guitar and the feel of the neck and frets which were original I believe. All I remember about the back of the guitar was that it was in nice condition and the color was a deep crimson cherry red. Spent a bit of time just admiring the fretboard up close believe it or not.
