• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Well I have had a 2003 LP PP for about 6 months and have really enjoyed playing her. She will be leaving me next week on a trade for a beautiful R7 GT Dark back. I have played and own a number of guitars and this R7 is amazing just over 8 lbs and a dream to play a real tone monster as well. I will miss this girl and hope somone will treat her with the care & respect I have. I wish I could have both but my wife is guitar counting now and I couldn't have a GT appear with out a lot of problems. I leave you all with a final look at her as she waves goodbye and places a bookmark in my memories.

I'll miss her..................:eek:la

Sad thing having to part with a loved one.
But I 'm sure the new owner will be very careful at where they put the decals ;)

In your house she would be "the second one" and probably in her new house she will be "THE ONE". Therefore be happy for her.

Kinda like wavin goodbye to a daughter when she leaves home. You can only hope that where ever she ends up she isn't abused.

I have visions of some rich dad buyin it for his 13 your old son and have it end up beatin, battered and forgoten.

Hey it's only an inanimate object right, so what am I goin on about. Like aimr75 said only slightly different "out with the new and in with the new old":dude

<Hey it's only an inanimate object right>

I know you mean that in jest, but lets really think about the other side of the coin.....

Hell we name them

We get REALLY passionate about our guitars. If we've been lucky we have come across the HG, but most of us come across one that has promise, and put time into it (that is both fitting/modding as well as us better our chops)

Other times we come across subborn ones and really work with them; and they become unique in their own special way.

Lets face it, each has their own personality.

Sort of like raising kids :)

The only Les Paul I have ever gotten rid of was a 1970 Deluxe that was beat to hell. I still wish I kept it and modded the hell out of it. But it was routed out for a Kahler and I just couldn't get past it. Over the last year or two, I almost pulled the trigger separately on getting rid of 3 of the ones I currently have. It will be a major blow unless I trade one in for something I really want. Once I get rid of one, I don't think I will care too much. Unless I have to sell for cash.

Just hang the picture around your neck.

Hey Old-Guy, you and me too!

I bought my R7 about three months ago, but within about 10 seconds I knew that it was all up for my 95 Standard.

I stuck her up on the bay yesterday and the bidding has started - gulp!

I bought her new and have done over 1000 gigs with her, but she's still looking good. I'm already beginning to have regrets but when I do, I just think of that Gold.

It's actually part of a life change for me as I'm soon to start a new job after 13 years of making my living in music. I've got 2 young boys to think about and a secure future for them is my priority.

It's not all bad news on the music front though, I still plan to play regularly with my band and although there's lots of stuff that will go, I'll be hanging on to the best of it and maybe even using some of the funds for new purchases.

Life is good, so never look back.

Hey O.G. , If you are trading her for a R7 , then the person she is going to is either a collector or has some taste in LP's. Resy assured that she will be taken care of. In what condition is the R7? I would think that he will treat your guitar with the same respect. I know how you feel, and to be honest, it will either go away totally or get worse. Usually you regret these things, but then you look at what you got " as a result " of her leaving, and things seem a little better.

Don't feel too melancholy over it: you're moving up to a nicer LP, and someone else will be thrilled to own your old 'girl'.

Congratulations on your '57!

I'm trading her in at a shop like GC up here in Canada. Just so happens that the R7 was a special order and they screwed up on the back color. The guy ordered a light back not a dark back. I know the manager and have only bought guitars from this store that have not hit the floor. He called me about the R7 and told me about it. I am the only one who has played it other than a few staff and it's an 11!!!. I just cringe to think my LP that I'm trading in will hang there in that dry dusty enviorment as every dink pulls her down and thrashes away on her. I special ordered this LP PP and it was never out on the floor. Hope they will have a "Plesae ask for Assistance Tag" on her, if they were smart they would. The shops just down the street from my work so I can visit till shes gone;)

I know I'm moving up and there is no question that the R7 is a superior instrument but it's like a little bit of ya goes when you part with a good axe. I'll post pics and comments when my new girl gets home with her sisters.
