've heard of that guitar before, I'm just not completely satsfied that it's genuine yet. I haven't heard its full story, or why it took 40 years to resurface after disappearing, or ay of that- especially since they'd released a korina Futura ten years prior to this one showing up.

F**k that driftwood looking POS, from what I have always heard, gibson was prototyping the explorer and built the first very few futura/explorer's in '55, so whats up with the '57 pot codes? You would think that the first full blown finalised explorers would be made in 57 to be ready for the '58 release, and the prototype/futura would be way before that. As far as the NEW gibson looking it over, you have to laugh how gibson says -

""The materials, dimensions and
concept are in keeping with other design
ideas of Gibsons of this time frame.""

These clowns can't even get their own reissues right, so what the hell do they know about materials, and dimensions.:lolspin

I don't care...

if there's only ONE in existence. Remenber, Gibson also built S1 Sonex guitars and non-reverse Firebirds. This simply looks like Gibson's All Time POS to me. I wouldn't pay $900 for it, even knowing that some idiot WILL pay a ton for it, just so he can win a d#^k measuring contest in his own mind! Besides, I think it's a fake, regardless of what the "experts" think. They can be fooled too!

I think I remember this guitar from long ago? It was bought by a Japanese collector in the 70s and was thought to be a fake back then. I don't remember the whole story on it now but I am pretty sure this guitar ain't right.........

Ugh

You have got to be F'n kidding me!!!

Hell if I knew you could get that kind of dough for a POS, I would of kept the guitar I tried to build when I was 13 years old.

Now that was a true POS. To bad I dont have any pic's, it made this thing look like a good deal...

Look at the wood? I have never seen it like that on a '50s Gibson. I Think I know the kook who could have built it. The same guy built another, and it sold for thousands as an original Gibson prototype built in the '80s or '90s It was a raging amatureish POS that looked like it was made in High School shop class. Hmm come to think of it, maybe he couldn't have made this one. It looks too good.

POS

There is a reason why this guitar did not go into production.
