• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Well, I pulled the trigger on a ‘59 reissue from Wilcutt (shipped today) and just wanted clarification on any delivery (opening the package) protocol under the current conditions, with the continuation of the extreme heat that we’ve been dealing with over the last week up through the mid west (am in the Chicago area). I didn’t see any threads related to heat, just extreme cold weather (wasn’t sure if the protocol was similar at all-if I just let it sit for a couple hours?).

It would be a good idea to let it sit for an hour then pull the case from the box and let it sit for another hour.

Heat is less of an issue than extreme cold, but none-the-less...

Lol, gotta couple funny guys here 😏😆. But yah, my main concern was just during transit (under higher than normal temps 90-100+), but does seem like it’ll be in the 80’s by the time it gets to my area (which I’m less concerned with), though will still probably let it sit for an hour or so. If everybody behaves, yes, will post some drool inducing pics 💋🎸😉😂.

Over the course of ~30 years I have shipped ~350 guitars to over 20 nations from a USA shipping origination.

Over the course of ~45 years I have imported guitars from outside the US.

I don't give much of any allowance for temp nor humidity when it comes to diving into a guitar purchase and I have never had a single buyer state they had any issue when unpackaging a guitar that I sold.

At the most I may allow a guitar to sit for a few hours when the instrument has traveled in an extremely cold, or hot environment but again; no issues with unpackaging a few hundred fiddles.

YMMV ............

Was trying to post the pics, but they won’t attach (said the files are too big, which doesn’t make sense since they’re no different than any of the other pictures on here-resolution wise). stupid technology 🙄. Will try again tomorrow lol. Sorry for keeping everyone in anticipation 🙁😅.

Reduce the size of the photos on the computer , right click and go to edit photos and knock them down from 100% to maybe 75% and then they should post .

yeah, I ran across the same issue here at TLPF as well.

I have never had this issue on any other forum over the course of ~25 years.

odd, to say the least

I agree. I once bought a Les Paul Standard from AZ that had been sitting under a bed for 6 yrs. The frets were a mess, the board was almost tinder wood and the 'Gibson' logo on the headstock was cracked and had partially lifted. Oh well, at least I got it cheap
