• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Should I trust Gibson support? :)

Hello. Recently I acquired Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 57 from 1993 with some poor fretwork but outstanding sound.
I highlighted this problem TGP and Gibson forum. You can check it here, nothing interesting...

Meanwhile, I wrote Gibson support to find out the specification and the history of that guitar with all photos of the guitar attached. Literally, all information that they have....
Hi Mr. XXX,

The serial number and pictures refer to a guitar LP Custom Black Beauty 57 in Ebony finish, gold hardware, made in 1993 as part of the Historic Collection. This guitar should have a pair of covered 57 Classic pickups and long tenon. Hope it helps.

Best regards,

Cmon Gibson. The serial number is 34720, which is prehistoric from 1993 with a SHORT tenon. Unfortunately, I didn't make a photo of the pickup cavity, but it looks far from how long tenon supposed to look.
So I am curious

1. I thought that Gibson has more data on guitars from 90s. Not names of the makers but still something more interesting. I can find more info just googling...
2. Can they have false information? I never heard of 1993 with an inked serial number that starts from 3 with LONG tenon neck.

Some photos. Interesting if you can spot the problem with fretboard ;) (FYI : Pickups replaced with Kloppmann set HB57) thank you

What specifics as far as info were you looking for ? Not to be snarky but , what did you want to know ? who handled it in assembly and who did the CNC routing , and who finished and assembled it ? Was it done on a Friday morning ? As far as specs go , this has been a more recent thing as far as when the merchants started posting data and specs on there websites in the past 10-15 years approximately ? I am not trying to be sarcastic as this is one of the beauties of owning a Gibson .

My perfect answer is how they writing specifications right now on the website. That would be the perfect answer. Something like that(without photos)

Thank you. I understand. Just was hopping... Anyway.
What about tenon information? Now I am really confused :)
from the photo of the neck pickup cavity I have to agree with the above poster that said it is the short tenon .

Hey guys I just want to contribute to the short neck tenon research as I just found ANOTHER ONE. A 1995 57 reissue 3 pickup.. Short tenon. And the guitar is exceptionally light so it’s probably weight relieved also. If there is a better thread for this please let me know.

There is nothing wrong with the frets, that I see. It looks like a beautiful 28yr. old Black Beauty. I betchya if you close your eyes while playing it, ya won’t even notice it’s there! They’re not supposed to be perfect, bro.
