• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've been enjoying the 335 and Explorer threads so went searching for a Firebird/Thunderbird thread. I found one from 2007 but most of the images were long gone, might as well start another unless there's a more recent one that I missed.

I've always thought it was one of the best designs to ever come out of Kalamazoo and would love to see what other members of the forum have in their fleets - I'll kick it off with my '65 II. The covers were long gone when I got so I decided to keep this one without them, it does have a cracked headstock repair like all too many of them but it doesn't effect the play-ability in the least. Who else has a got a bird to share? All numbers and variations welcome

I always wanted a set of vintage birds but settled for new. The bass might have been the first new bass I ever bought. Bass is 2011, guitar 2012.

Thunderbird Thursday - Some great birds here! @Grog I've always wanted a matched pair but I'm not a good enough guitar player to justify it!

I've always preferred the thinner neck profile of the reverse birds but I still have the NR's in the collection. Here's my '67 IV, a bit punchier than my 64's/65 and got plenty of usage over the years.

Well this is an imposter, but here's my Kauer Banshee I. Gibson sent him a C&D letter and he's had to change the design, which became the Banshee II.
I just thought y'all will get a kick out of this pre C&D version.
When I bought it, it had PAF style pickups and it was a metallic orange of some type with black plastic p/u rings. I had it refinished it in the color you currently see, had the pick guard aged, put in metal p/u rings and put in the full humbucker sized Lollartrons. Very fun guitar and weighs around 6.9lbs with NO neck dive whatsoever; it is made out of Spanish Cedar if I remember right. It sounds twangy chimey and bright, but still can get some great AC/DC tones.
I also would love to get a Gibson CS reverse Firebird with vintage style firebird p/u's, one of these days.
