Man DB, that '57 looks really nice, but that Wildwood '59 is AMAZING.

To me, is looks more authentic than your '57.

I'd play the heck out of that WW '59. Killer guitar!!!

I've been playing this '60 strat all week. (It's like a good pair of old Levis):

I have only one Strat, and besides a nearly identical '59 I've played, it's the best one I've ever played. Oddly enough, it's a Mexican Road Worn 50s Strat that's all stock except for a steel tremolo block. Something about the way it's finished, the neck shape, and the sound is just exactly what I look for in a Strat. I've owned a Custom Shop Strat and a Scott Walker Strat style and this is by far my favorite. I looked all around Nashville to find a Strat in any price range that I liked as much and couldn't find one. She's a keeper, that's for sure!

I can't stop looking at that picture. Perfection, that is.

Thanks for posting!

Here's mine, a Classic Series 50's. Local seller must've thought it was a MIM Standard, from how it was priced. I got it in VG+ condition for about one quarter to one third what they street for new.

DB,
Is the finish on your '57 original?

Funny you mentioned that. I am really not sure. I posted very detailed pics on another Strat forum and everyone seemed to think it is original. To me the color is way off what I would expect but according to that group, a brownish colored sunburst was very common. There are two unmolested nail holes under the pick guard and one that appears to have finish in it. Everything else seems legit regarding the finish though. It was old and worn in a couple places and you can see how the finish appears sunken into the grain of the wood. It was this way when I bought it in 1981. If it was refinished, I would think it would have had to have been done in the 60's. It sure wasn't recent back in 1981.

Just getting around to seeing these responses. Yep... The Wildwood 59 is killer for sure. John Cruz really knows how to build them! :dude:

Saw this and just had to go for it! This is a 2016 Artisan series Strat from Wildwood. Claro walnut top over roasted butternut back (never heard of this wood before) and roasted AAA Birdseye maple neck. For my tastes, it is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. They supposedly sound as good as they look. Weighs in at 7.22 lbs too. I'll find out next Friday.

Photos of a real nice Strat I picked up from Garrett Park guitars. It's a special edition "Rocking Dog" in Sea Foam Green.
