Good friend and amp builder Billy Yates (The Outlaws) took my Shanks for a bit of a test-drive today. Check out some of the sick, sick goodness of a CC#7 plugged straight into his Red Jones Amps 18-watt head --

That Shanks is a swell lookining fiddle for sure. Love the grover tuners look, as well.

@skhan007 -- Agreed. Adding aged parts really enhances the look IMHO. Aged Grovers, pickup rings, ABR and Stop-Tail... all of these are essential in taking a Shanks all the way

You know, I've been thinking that I'd really like to get a CC this year and the more I look at Shanks and hear clips, the more it may be might top choice.

But I've been researching the Shanks model a bit and have a question for @sgt_steiner : do you recall why Billy was playing with the tone knobs dialed back most of the time? Doesn't seem like the best representation of the guitar's tone? Not that Billy isn't a great player, I know he certainly is, but this left me wanting to hear a bit more of the guitar w/o the tone knobs dialed back so much... Also...still got the guitar?
