But top wrappers pull up to the proverbial bumpers, mate!

Bonjour.

It just ain’t my bag.. I’m a traditionalist. I don’t need no modernist fancy methods.. just give me two chords and the truth.. and maybe I’ll play a ballad or two.

**update**
After a few weeks of playing with the adjusted abr.. I still wasn’t 100% happy with the action..
so this morning I slammed the tail piece (while in my pants) and I’m digging it a lot more.. the strings are touching the abr.. which is kinda a cool sound..
I like my necks straight and action low (on my 335s with flats).. and luckily the previous owner had the neck pleked with a flat neck (so it’s been done twice, once from the factory and again from the inlay guy) so the intonation and fretting is pretty much spot on..
it maybe a touch too low.. but to have the action this low without any buzzing is a feat in of itself.. so I’ll give it another few weeks at this height.

It just goes to show that some of the best ideas in life are achieved in your underwear.

Bonjour.

Be mindful of excess string pressure touching on the rear of bridge, not only because of the longer-term bridge collapse, but possible intermediate or short-term post lean on historic reissues.

Ah yes.. this was mentioned above.. I’ll keep an eye on it.. tbh.. I will try and set it so the strings are just above the abr..

Appreciate the advice JB ⭐

On closer inspection the strings were just above the abr.. (could slip paper between abr and strings) but I did just raise both bridge and tail slightly (more on the lower E side) .. and it’s better.. not so slappy now.. that said..the bottom E is a bit flappy above the twelfth fret.. but this is normal for low action..and pros don’t start runs on the low e anyway lol..
I would like it just a nats whisker lower than where it’s at.. as the previous very low action was really playable..
Will let it settle and go again.. 👍

The low E on all my Gibsons touches the back of the ABR. I would not worry about it. So you slammed the tail piece while in your pants. Sounds uncomfortable.

There is a lot of implying that the tail piece height has an influence on "action" which is string height, which is adjusted at the bridge. Tail piece height may influence string tension feel, but not height or action.

It is hard to tell if OP is confused or mixing terms on purpose to be as confusing as possible....
