• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Sounds good to me. I'd never spend $$$$ on a high gain head. But I might buy one of these.

It seems that there are a lot of these mini gain monsters on the market now. I find myself thinking, these are probably one trick ponies, with a heavy crunch tone and dirty cleans.
Zacknorton's idea is pretty good though, dedicated high gain at hand.

I don't know, what do folks think of them?

I hear solid state there….and not the best solid state high gain I have heard.
The gain is there, but the harmonic content is not, to my ear. The Lab Series L5/7/9/11
amps from the late ‘70s/early ‘80s can cop that sound better, imho.

I’ll keep my big one. I’ve never had a problem with it and love it for live playing. Don’t use the high gain on it. Always thought it was everything a Marshall wasn’t in a good way. No interest in their new tiny amps or 30 watt jobs. Also wouldn’t buy a 4 cylinder Corvette that went 75 miles per hour.

One thing I liked about the video was Mike said it’s not the same as the $4000 amp. OTOH George Lynch I don’t “get”. I always thought Dokken was kind of lame and he’s put his name on about a million products (I guess somebody likes him).

To me the beauty of the SLO is Knopfler, Clapton, etc…. I like mine because it’s super reliable and sounds good. Not my fav amp I own tone wise but live wise, yes. I like mine on the non distortion setting and with my Klon to boost it up.

This Chinese thing is cute marketing but a POD or something would be more useful. I know other companies have the same thing going so it’s probably just got a different profile loaded into it or something,

I got one the other day. For $250 it's lots of fun and sounds way better than it has any right to. So far I think I like it best with a little hotter humbucker. Sure it's not an SLO 100, no one expects it to be..
