I have been told that for 2023 the 59 Greeny is coming and it will be Murphy Lab Aged. I am sure everyone knows this is the guitar owned by Peter Green, Gary Moore, and currently under the guardianship of Kirk Hammett. I am told by reliable sources there will be 2 versions and this will be a limited build allocated to dealers based on sales and territory however Gibson wont disclose how many they will build but will fill all dealer allocation orders available in 2023 only.

Version 1: Aged in the Murphy Lab and allocated to dealers. MSRP $14,999.

Version 2: Gibson Garage version only. Gibson will fly you to Nashville and you will get your guitar at the Gibson Garage with a meet & greet and photo op with Kirk Hammett and rumored that Kirk will sign your guitar. MSRP $49,999.

A dealer friend of mine joked that Garage version will come with a foot massage by Kirk! :giggle:
I may buy a ML of it IF I can play it first. $50k for a replica? You’re an idiot with money to throw. Why not sell them for $20k and skip the fly over, meet n greet with Kirk and the photo op? That’s where the $30k is. Cause a braz board ML is what? 18-20k MSRP? Not like it’ll sound like Greeny. I’m betting they use Brandonwound PUPs in it. Not just reg custombuckers. For $50k I’d expect old growth mahogany at minimum.

that wouldn't be very smart if I were a collector and wanted maximum value for my investment

but afterwards, i wouldn't have a problem saying he's not in the same league as Green and Moore. But why would I, there's no point in doing so - just my view

my guess is, you're a Donkey

F-Hole started the expletive throwing, not I

I just gave my view of Kirk's guitar prowess

so, are you going to enlighten us mere mortals who F-Hole is?

and if this person is of grand stature, that doesn't mean they get to say what they wish and expect no rebuttal

Pat, you twisted my typing fingers, I tried to stop myself but could not ... you are a Javelina

The $15k price for the aged Murphy Lab sounds about right to me given the current environment. Gibson is smart for doing another reissue of this iconic guitar.

I suppose some well heeled hardcore Metallica fans might go for Version 2. I know for me, $50k for a Murphy Lab aged Page #1 with a meet and greet with Jimmy would be awfully hard to pass up even if I had to buy my own plane ticket to Nashville.

It makes me chuckle when guitarists disparage other guitarists.

Just because a player ploughs a certain furrow doesn't mean he can't also stand in other fields.

I'd lay decent odds that Kirk could trade licks with anyone, and I mean anyone.

Greeny gracing stages again in his hands, that in and of itself fills me with enormous admiration.

Greeny Forever.

Personally, I hope Gibson does well, improves its financial health and makes more excellent guitars. If this turns out to be a step in that direction, then more power to them. To me, Gibson is an American institution and I want to see them succeed and be around for many years to come.

Why would anyone care who buys these and what they will or won't do with them? Seriously???

Gibson, like many companies, markets products to as many segments of their total customer base as possible. If there are customers willing to pay $50k for these, why wouldn't they make them and price them accordingly?

Agreed......Gibson does their market research. What we never see or hear about, is the many emails and correspondences that I'm sure Gibson gets, asking if they're gonna to make this model or that. They know going in if the market will support a product they plan to release.

It makes me chuckle when guitarists disparage other guitarists. NOT disparage, but compare

Just because a player ploughs a certain furrow doesn't mean he can't also stand in other fields. I'm a huge metal fan and music genre wasn't even mentioned. How dare you insinuate metal guitarist are any less of a guitarist compared to other genres. Shame on you

I'd lay decent odds that Kirk could trade licks with anyone, and I mean anyone. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT, send me your money now, Vai/Kirk - winner Vai ... please don't encourage me, ok I must, Skolnick/Kirk = winner Skolnick (also has a great jazz trio)

Greeny gracing stages again in his hands, that in and of itself fills me with enormous admiration. Concede

Greeny Forever.

Stfu! You don’t know shit! Let me see your proof they’ll sell a shit ton at $50k. One person said they’re only making 50. I assure you they won’t sell 1000 of these guitar at $50k. I’ll put money where my mouth is.

10 is NOT a shit ton now is it? Pat acts like he KNOWS everything. But can’t prove what anyone knows. But he said Gibson will sell a shit ton. I’m betting they won’t. But let’s let Pat tell us how much a shit ton is. Since he KNOWS so much?

Pat is in the business and sees a lot of Gibson special runs. Across all versions of this same basic PG guitar, they might do ok. We'll soon see...
