• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

So What Is Your Opinion On The 59 Greeny Coming In 2023

Pat is in the business and sees a lot of Gibson special runs. Across all versions of this same basic PG guitar, they might do ok. We'll soon see...
The ML undoubtedly. I agree they’ll probably sell around 200 of them. At $15-20k a pop? They’ll sell but probably won’t make more than 2-300 of them as a $15k guitar isn’t exactly something to throw that much income at. Especially with inflation and world collapsing. The ML isn’t going to be athat much of a collector guitar. It probably won’t have the braz board and it’ll be light aged. Like buying a new Les Paul. But no, they won’t sell a shit ton of the $50k models.

To really sound like Green you'd have to use those heavy-as-hell strings he used, no?

Indeed, JD. Gibson is pretty smart at gauging how many they should produce in each run. If anything, they usually leave the public wanting more. Also, with every run the pieces we are allotted never see the floor.

Don't forget that for 50k Gibson will fly you to Nashville and Kirk will be there. Whether you agree with it or not there are folks who love that type of thing.
oh for sure.....plenty will pony up for that. I mean it is kind of cool I guess...!

I mean, it’s worth $0 to me….ok, maybe a flight to Nashville is worth a couple hundred.

But yeah, I’m sure some would totally be into that. And by some, I mean people with cash burning a hole in their pocket.

No shit? They’re only making what? 50 in the ENTIRE WORLD??? Of course they’ll sell all 50. If that was 300? Price would probably drop a bit as that’d be difficult to sell 300 at $50k a pop.

First prove Tom reversed engineered nitrocellulose lacquer
If they thought they could sell 300 @ 50k why wouldn’t they?
Takes away the prestige of owning 1 of 50 rather than 1 of 300

I don’t see how Gibson could ever top this guitar as in selling ANYTHING more expensive. Even a Jimmy Page with a meet n greet would cost the same. Though they’d probably upcharge since he’s considered one of the most iconic. So say $60k?

It’s Gibson’s way of recreating the phenomenon of the burst guitars that will appreciate in value as a replica. Though it’s just that….a replica. Looks the part. No where’s near the part in sound.

They’re in business to make money, not sell prestige! If they thought they could sell 300 they would IMO.

Well obviously they KNOW they can’t sell 300 otherwise they’d make them. Why didn’t they make purely 2015 True Historic Models for that yr and offer nothing else? Because they knew they wouldn’t sell them all if more than 300 a piece for each yr model 58-60.

At $50k I’d prefer a vintage over anything new. Even though these will purely be collector guitars? They’ll never be in the same realm as an original. Time will tell, just wait for a market crash in the next few yrs and you’ll probably pick one up for $20-30k
