• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Anybody here ever use a Soldano HR50 XL. I'm thinking about snagging a used one to check out. I played one a while back but don't remember much. What's it like?

I've been using one for gigs lately and I have to say it sounds really good. It is basically a hotrodded Marshall 800 series master volume amp. It cuts in a mix very well.

HR 50

I've had an HR50+ for about 5 years. I had the mod done to give it the XL voicing.

It's a wonderful amp. But I strongly suggest you look at the two channel version. The single channel HR has the overdrive channel only. I don't mean to belittle that channel because it is truly incredible. But if you play some blues/rock, the overdrive can be a bit much. So the two channel gives you a lot more flexibility.

The problem is that the two channel HR's seem to be quite a bit more expensive. But these are definitely keeper amps so the extra $$ might be worth it to you.
