60 B,

I am currently using the SKB pedal board below. It works good, has two effects loops, power for aroiund 6 effects, clean. I have run out of room though and I will probably have a board built. I like the Modular Pedal.com board that Spouse posted.

That looks nice and neat KK. You use an 808 live? I have before but you are kind of stuck with using it on because of the tone sucking feature aren't you?

A few years back I was to sit in with a band I didn't know in another state so I didn't have any of my stuff. A friend, who I record with often, set up his tweed Bassman with an 808 and I used his old goldtop. I did no adjusting but just walked out on stage and started playing. To my surprise I couldn't tell I had a pedal on. I had a great sound on my guitar. As good as I have ever heard using a similiar rig. Usually, a pedal will get on my nerves quickly and I have got to get it off but I played 30 minutes or so and was quite happy with my sound. I need to ask this guy what the deal is? He is also a studio engineer so he probably knows a thing or two I don't, about gizmos............

I too have just started using pedals after years of plugging straight into my amp. I have a question and Im hoping someone could help. Here it goes....
I play through a 2 channel Soldano Lucky 13 100 watt 2X12 combo. The pedals I have been using lately are a rotovibe, a Guyatone funky X envelope filter and an old MXR flanger. My question is, should I go through the effects loop at all? I have never used the effects loop on my amp. I dont use the pedals all the time. I use them strictly for an "effect" in certain parts of songs. Will using the FX loop improve my sound? Also, I have an old MXR Distortion +. Would you recommend using this to boost my lead sound or would adding another effect really take away from the Soldano's natural sound? HELP!

I think it is really difficult to find pedals that WILL NOT disturb the tone of your amp. My 808 just in the chain (off)) takes away a little sparkle and spank. If you don't use your distortion pedal on 90% of the time I would say no reason to use it at all. I plan to use mine. When you get the controls right and the amp balanced it can be a great thing.

I would never use an amp with an effects loop. Might as well just get a rack power amp.

stompbox/FX loop

Here's my take on it.

Stomp boxes are designed to drive the front end of an amp, effecting your tone before it even gets to the tone shaping of your preamp.

FX loops are designed for rack gear with line level signals and the loop is between the preamp and power section. So the loop should not effect your tone as much since it's not going into the preamp of the amp.

Stomp Boxes > front end
Rack Gear > FX Loop

I may be totally wrong about this,
flame away just don't bonk me with coconuts
:lol2
Of course you can do whatever works for you.

Is your effects loop adjustable? If not, I don't think the pedals will work there.

I just broke down and ordered the Furman pedalboard.

I figured that by the time I bought a power supply, cables, velcro, carpet and baltic birch I wasn't saving any money by doing it myself. And still didn't have the "gigbag"

I've dreamed of getting rid of pedals for a long time, finally accepting that they are part of what I need to do the job.

They are a pain in the ass to deal with - I think the board will make it easier.

I still need to convert my older pedals to true bypass, and would like to install LED's for them....I found the new switches at Fulltone for $16 each. Anyone know how to setup the LED's?

Here are two other cool pedal boards I found.

60 Burst,
I missed you question. Yes I use the 808 and Furman live all the time. I love it. One I use for a light SRV dirt and the other for a heavier SRV dirt. The fuzzface I use for Voodo Chile and Leave My Girl alone tone.

Hey KK...I like your choice in overdrives...you are like me in that area. I run 3:
-silver Fulldrive
-Barber Burn Unit
-Fulltone Distortion Pro....check out the H-C reviews. They have started. I am speechless about it. if you can find one, PLEASE try it....it's an OD, a distortion, and a fuzz all in one. Soooo versatile.
