I was looking at a new Rolling Stones book ( Let It Bleed ) yesterday and in some older ( late 60's ? ) shots Keith Richards was holding a very ornate Epi acoustic ..in other pics Jagger was using the same guitar ...I know Keith used Hummingbirds ..but what model would the Epi be ? ..sorry, I don't have any pics.

I think the pics of them holding an epi were taken in someone's home ( possibly Stephen Stills ? ) as his name was mention somewhere in the book.

You also see pics of both Keith and Brian playing a Gibson Heritage acoustic. I believe Keith plays this guitar on the Ed Sullivan show on "As Tears Go By", but it could have been on Shindig or something else.

I have a 1965 Frontier which looks almost exactly like the sunburst one pictured above except it has an adjustable wooden bridge saddle. I bought it in excellent condition from an older gentleman who wasn't able to play it anymore due to arthritis. Nice guitar...you don't see many of them, though. Mine has a very slim neck size. I've seen a picture of Gram Parsons playing one in a bio I recently read, but I've never seen a picture of Keith with one of those. Anyone have a pic of that? I've also seen Noel Gallagher of Oasis playing one. Anyone else out there have (and love!) an Epiphone Frontier?

off topic find in my searc
Ron Wood Quote:
Every time I think about Stephen Stills, I can't forget that Keith couldn't stand him and there was nothing Stephen could do to change that.

We were sharing a studio once at Atlantic Records in New York, and Stephen wanted to play one of Keith's guitars.

But Keith said no and actually locked all his guitars away to keep Stephen from playing them.

Then Keith put a sign up on the door that read "No Stephen Stills Allowed".

I'm not sure Keith knows why he didn't like Stephen, but he used to say, "Stills doesn't know how to do drugs properly."

An odd reason, especially as I don't think any of us knew whether Stills did drugs at all!

I saw Stills at a solo show in 1975. It was in Anchorage Alaska. He treated the audience as if we were fools for being, not just at his show but for living in Alaska. I have not since listened to any of his music since.
