• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Survey : if the Historics were made in China but half the price - would you buy one ?

I wonder? What if a thing to death to get the answer you are fishing for? Or just saying what it is you really want. So many threads looking for an alternative to a Custom Shop Les Paul. What if they were made in the Arturian star system by alien life forms, BUT WERE IDENTICAL?

Country of origin is more than geopolitics. I have always liked high end Japanese guitars. Wonderful instruments beautifully crafted. Still they all feel like Japanese guitars. Not a bad thing at all but it is noticeably singular. US guitars feel like US guitars, too me. The history, heirloom hallmark is important too. It is not a Gibson if it isn't born in the USA. Or the Sol star system. Fookin' Arturians are blue skinned thiefs cloning everyones intellectual property and flooding the universe with cheap replicants.
This is just beyond dumb . There is only one Gibson Les Paul and it is built by Gibson today in Nashville Tenn. USA , or formerly built in Kalamazoo Mi. USA . It is wasted energy trying to preach to us about foreign made forgery's . I am at the bank and there is a young kid teller that plays and knows I play and he is telling me how he has a Fender Tele and a Fender Stratocaster and a Martin Acoustic . The gent tells me that he wants a new guitar and he doesn't know what he wants to buy , so I said a Gibson Les Paul and he replies that he had a Epi Les Paul and he got rid of it and he thought it was mediocre . Maybe if he tried a Gibson USA , he might have a different opinion ?

wake up my friend - you are living in the past

OK - so I have a few questions for you - using YOUR logic :

1) Are the Fender Telecasters and Strats made in Mexico - forgeries even tho they are absolutely official Fender products ?

2) if they are not forgeries why does only Fender and not Gibson get to produce their classic model guitars overseas ?

3) which Car would be more American - a Japanese brand made in America or an American brand made in Japan ?

4) which car is more American - one made in Detroit with Chinese parts or one made in China with American parts ?

All of those things are for posers who dream of the "real deal". While they have their place in the market, they are all trash in my opinion.
