• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Chirp, chirp!

I had the opportunity to acquire 1 of 4 very rare Left Handed Gibson Gary Rossington Les Pauls, of the run of 250 total Rossington Les Pauls, which were aged relic'd... sadly, I didn't have the scratch available at the time, and didn't want to become indebted. Regretfully, I passed.

@Steve Craw has fond memories of his, and can attest.

Here's GR 181, for picture's sake.

I loved my Rossington (#180), but would have pulled the trigger on the above #181, based on the top. The above pic doesn't show how spectacular it is. Turns out, I missed it by an hour, but in the end, I had no regrets about getting #180 instead. I have some minor regrets about letting it go, as it was a great guitar, and it was so rare, but I think
things worked out really well. I'm very happy with my goldtop, and having my ES-345 has been THE greatest guitar experience of my life. BTW, JB, where is the above picture of #181 from? I've never seen that pic, so I'm wondering, is it for sale somewhere?

Here's a limited edition I've always lusted after: The Elliot Easton Tikibird. A friend of mine had a lefty Tikibird that I had first-refusal on a few years ago. Better for him that I passed, since he put it on Reverb and got a whole lot more for it than he was asking from me. I've seen a lefty Tikibird recently that Elliot hand-signed, but I think my buying days are probably over. 26397.jpeg

Steve, that popped up for auction in the UK a while back, and sold. Missed it entirely.

Alex had one a several years back, was that yours or another one? I forget... 'Long-Covid' and all. o_O

My friend would bring his Tikibird to my gigs for me to use. This pic has to be 7-8 years old. Burst in the lower right is the 2012 R8 that I owned for about a year. It had a full-tilt makeover from Kim & Co. at Historic Makeovers, and sadly, it's gone, but was something really special.

I sold mine to Alex in 2010. He also had lefty Rossington #116, both sold quickly.

It's a great guitar, no doubt. I'm keeping mine!

I am not in it for investing, I love my guitars for their functional utility combined, craftsmanship, which also represents superb artistry. [Is that a trifecta?]

That said: the resale on Tikibirds has been pretty impressive of late, although volatile over their short history. Consider when released they listed shy of $2k. After the limited run ended, Tikis deflated to the mid-$1k range, then regained and moderately surpassed retail pricing; now some spike well above.

You know... They are a unique Bird! Full humbuckers versus mini, Bigsby versus Maestro, cool switching, that Gold Mist Poly! Yezzz... BTW I am a fan of the Steinberger tuners over the banjos, and have them on my 2013 USA F-Bird as well. Great solution, but NOT appropriate for the LP: the Future was a mistake.

And like all @Elliot Easton creations, came in both dexterities. As EE quips, 'No uncharge for righties!' :p

My CC18 001 is just an awesome guitar. Not sure if it's my favorite of all the limited models, but wouldn't trade it for any other either.

I guess you had to get #1 ;)

I love the color of the DutchBurst; they did the CC18s very fittingly... What a beauty!
