• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi,
Just noticed something odd about my T-Tops. When standing up on the stand the neck pickup T’s are mirrored i.e. the top coil’s T is upside down (the coil with the screwheads) whilst the bridge pickups are both upright

Is this normal ? Another Gibson ‘feature’ ?

There's right or wrong to T-Tops. If you'll notice, there's no indexing hole at the end of the T-Top bobbin like PAFs and the clones have. So the bobbin would end up being put in the winder however the person grabbed the blanks out of the box. It makes no physical or electrical difference.

Kind-of verbal shorthand for the little lids you put on tea-cups to retain the heat so the tea doesn't get cold so quickly.

Cheers Mofinco. The guy that had it before me had wires coming out of the pickups - probably coil taps via the tome control. I was worried he'd 'physically' split the coils. They sound good enough good for me

Thanks for at least responding Wilko and Gordyh. Much appreciated. As for the wealth of other information offered........

I knew I should have just Googled it instead of asking the question here. Wow, a T-top is a humbucker. Wow. What a bunch of fun and helpful guys you are. (if we were in grade 2) :moon
