• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks for everything, Dad

My dad had been battling esophageal cancer. He passed away last night, with me, my mother, my younger sister and my two brothers around him. He was active as he was able to be, right up to his last day. Yesterday morning, my dad and my mom went for a short foliage ride and then to breakfast. He felt weak, fainted and was taken to the hospital. He passed at 8:35 pm. It happened fairly quickly, and my older sister who lives in NYC wasn't able to be there.

Two more weeks, and he would have celebrated his 53rd wedding anniversary. He had 5 great kids. He worked for the same company for 39 years. When he retired, he was a vice president, and former part-owner. He only had a high school diploma, he never went to college. He gave me a place to live, food on the table, clothes on my back. He gave me a twisted sense of humor, and an appreciation for the good things in life. I will be grateful to him for the rest of my days.

Sorry for your loss, Dan... may he :rip --- you will be amazed at all the little things you'll remember & treasure as the coming years pass. Make sure & keep that twisted sense of humour going on, too -- you are his legacy. :salude

My empathies for your loss. Mine's been gone for just over two years now; you'll remember the bad and the good - hopefully the good memories will FAR out weigh the bad. At least you still have Mom to share the good memories with - hold on tight to her. . .

My condolences. I lost my father fifteen years ago this December. We were incredibly close, as it sounds like you were with your father. A part of me always felt that when that day came he would be passing the baton of true family leadership and manhood on to me. I was 28 at the time. Years later, I know he's still with me as I do my best to be the kind of father to my children that he was to my brother and me. God bless.

BFD, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dad 7 years ago this February, I know how you are feeling. I can only hope that my kids will have memories of me like I do my dad, and as it sounds like you do of yours. Dads are special, I believe, and are under a "higher calling" to be THAT man in their families lives. Yours lived the life, and left an indelible mark on those around him.

We should all live so well. May God's Grace be with you and your family during these times.

Greg

BluesForDan, my heart and prayers go out to you and yours. I lost my father back in July. I guess God has decided to take another good man home. Take care, and may his love prevail, and may the memories of your father be bright and loving.
