Dallas, TX…Dallas International Guitar Festival (DIGF) is back at Dallas Market Hall April 30-May 2. The world’s largest and oldest guitar show is excited to emerge from their cocoon after a year-long quarantine caused by the pandemic.

DIGF hours are 12 noon to 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. There is continuous music throughout the festival, with two outdoor stages. Dallas Market Hall at 2200 Stemmons Freeway in Dallas offers ample free parking for those attending the show.

Jimmy Wallace, DIGF producer and owner, said, “In these challenging times we are committed to maintaining a safe and clean environment for our attendees, performers and staff. This year will be a hybrid event with indoor and outdoor activities. Dallas Market Hall will still have a mask mandate in place during the event. Masks, along with social distancing, will be a requirement and help on-site attendees and exhibitors feel more safe and comfortable attending the Dallas International Guitar Festival this year.”

I suspect this may be much more of a local event, since many people have not been vaccinated yet, and even those who are may have still have fears about getting the ‘Rona. But is anyone here planning on going?

Im flying in to go to the show. A friend of mine is going to help her brother’s store and I had a ton of hotel/airline points and want to find a nice ES-345.

Has anyone been in the past? How is it?

COVID-19 party.
Hi Mike,

I’m well aware that there is a very, very wide range of feelings these days about “opening up” and particularly about holding events. I try to be respectful of all such feelings. So in light of what you said above, I feel I should ask if you would have a problem with me or other forum members posting occasional reports and updates from the show. I think people will be interested.

I didn’t know it was a taboo subject. I’m just going to see a few friends NG hopefully find a 345 to buy. I can delete my post if I can figure out how.

If you search the forum, you'll find loads of photos from past shows. There are two big guitar shows every year in the Metroplex -- Dallas in the spring, and Arlington in the fall.

I'm not sure it is a taboo subject -- that's why I asked Mike.

Cool. Do they have anyone like FedEx or the UPS Store on-site in case you buy anything? Not a huge deal as I could just check something or put it in the overhead but it would be cool if they did.

Search on my account and you'll find lots of photos from past Dallas, Arlington & Fort Worth shows. According to a google search there's a Fed Ex print & ship site in the Hilton Anatole hotel (across the highway from the site). Many dealers should also be able to arrange shipping.

If you're concerned and not sure what to do, just label the post Dallas Guitar Show Covid-19 Party.

Well, hopefully I'll be able to find something I'm looking for.

Question - I don't have a large national bank (Bank of America, etc...). I'm thinking about opening an account at one of these and putting the money I have to spend in it and if I see something I like on Friday (for example) making a deal, giving a dealer a deposit and coming back a little later with a cashier's check from a local BoA branch.

Is this even worth doing to get the best deal or should I just use a credit card? I'm looking to spend about 8-10k

Based on my experience at the Arlington and Dallas shows, a credit card with a healthy open balance on it should be fine for most dealers.

A couple of other things about payments - Some dealers should have a sign in their booth stating which credit cards they accept. If you don't see one, ask. Also, if you don't have one, consider opening a Pay Pal account, add a credit card to to it and download the app to your phone. On-site wifi access is um ... limited and this can expedite transactions in some cases. Also also, - if you can manage it - PHOTOS! 📸 🎸BE SURE TO ASK FIRST! Most are ok with it, occasionally someone will decline. If possible, get a shot of the dealer's sign, the guitar(s) in question and a close up of the instrument's price tag. We can assist with posting them if required. Also also also and most importantly, have fun! If you return home exhausted and suffering from sensory overload, the trip will have been a success.🤘

I have a couple credit cards and I have PayPal. Just didn’t know if cash was the best way to go. Generally I don’t take pictures of guitars I’m not buying so I’m not worried about that part of it. Thanks!!

Cash works as well.. not all vendors may be set up for credit cards, but may be more so than when I purchased my 76 Custom and 96 ES335 in 2007 or 2008.

Some dealers still are living in the past and only deal in cash. Most of the country is plastic card or PP etc. Some of these guys will look at you funny unless you have a big wad of cash. Don't get me wrong, cash still talks loudest at these shows but most people these days don't walk around with a big stash of Franklins.
