Most of that list was right on the money.

Neislen? writer doesn't get the joke.

Eddie? not a douche, he's too easy going.

The rest... totally true.

It's just clickbait listicle "journalism," designed to get a cheap emotional rise out of the reader who's offended because his favorite player was included on the list. It says far more about the person writing it than the musicians he's criticizing.

#1,2,4 & 9 are off base, IMO. Vai, Satch , Eddie & Yngwie are/were among the best in their field ,IMO.

They all revolutionized 80's guitar in their own way. One might dislike their playing style/personality , but the music they created stands the test of time ,IMO,OMMV.

Just two examples , "Far Beyond on the Sun" as well as "Solider Without Faith" are some of Yngwie best work.

Van Halen at US Fest. in '83 is one one the best 80's rock concerts ever recorded ,IMO.

Vai recorded & played with Zappa as well as his own Flex-Able & Flex-Able Leftovers before he was paid $1,000,000 to finish the Whitesnake record with Coverdale as well as two killer records with DLR.

Satch was/is the guitars players player. He taught lessons to the likes of Kirk Hammet & Vai as well countless other great players.

The article isn't about how good they are, it even says they are good. It's about whether they are douchy or not.

#1, 2, & 4 shouldn't be on here, if only to give John Mayer the ranking he deserves.

I've never understood that Michael Angelo Batio thing, to me he's the first without even a competition. He music sucks, what he does sucks, he just sound like a bunch of exercises in a weird manner. To me he sounds like a super nintendo or something.

I have met most of these gentleman in person. Very nice and humble people. The journalist who wrote was either looking to stir the pot or is extremely ill-informed.

Take it from one who knows -- those two options aren't mutually exclusive! :laugh2:

That article was written two years ago. Apparently no one noticed until now. So we can assume no one cares.

Surprised Bob Dylan wasn't on that list.

Yeah i cant take this article seriously at all lol. I can really only speak for one guy on that list and that is Michael Angelo Batio. He was doing a clinic for a shop in Wildomar (Gearhounds) and my friends and i were good friends of the owner and always gave them our business.

So anyways after the clinic his whole rig is set up and he lets me play one of his USA custom Dean guitars thru his rig while my friend jumps on a drumset and we have a jam. He couldnt have been nicer. He was complimenting us lol. And after that we all went to a mexican restraunt and i ended up sitting across from him and we all talked about baseball and football and guitar etc. Even shared some nachos with the guy lol.
