• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thinking of trading my Prehistoric Flametop for a Two Rock Classic Reverb

Hello all,

I have a couple really nice Prehistoric Flametop reissues for sale at the moment. Someone has proposed trading his Two Rock Classic Reverb for one of them. I really don't know that much about them. I've watched a couple Youtube videos, but there are only a few, and I'm not convinced you can really hear an amp's real tone that way.

Do any of you have experience with these amps? I've only found one completed sale on ebay for $2935, but they sell new for $4000. I'm set for Lesters at the moment, so that guitar just isn't getting played.

What do you think? Would you make the trade?

Oh yeah. Here's the guitar:

Thanks,
Brad

Value wise those amps will just go down in price. I've never heard of anybody paying full list for them. And I personally would not buy an amp or guitar I have not heard and played in person.

Tone is good but reliability seems to be an issue. A dealer friend of mine is not stocking them in future due to the alleged failure rates. Have a look around and get some reviews first.

I would keep the Prehistoric, it's only gonna hold or increase its value. The amp won't in my opinion.

I concur with the above posts. I think a Blackface would keep its value more and give you the cleans that the Two Rock brings. Keep the guitar.

if that guitar is an '85, it will be a 30 year old LP standard in a little over a year. I would keep that guitar. I have an '87 (avatar) that will not be leaving me.
