I’m now finding I have to kickstart my passion once again. So the plan is to slowly rebuild the collection.
..and my advice is.. only sell one guitar if you need too.. not a huge chunk at once.. it’s definitely detrimental to the art.
You are correct .. as the selling of the guitars was a reaction to the collection becoming quite bloated.. but after the dust had settled it effected me. That said.. and as you rightly noted… I can now “rebuild him”.. and get better and stronger.I pray I remain in a position to only sell to trade-up to something I want more, or to fund another passion, not beacuse I need the cash.
I hope this for all of you folks too! Although I know hard times come along.
...
Marc, you definitely sound a bit deflated; consider the rebuild a new venture, a wondrous journey backed by all the skill and knowledge you've accumulated thus far. An opportunity to get the best for yourself.
Channel your inner Steve Austin and get busy, man!

Interesting post Marc. Sorry you seem to be sad. Perhaps you will snap out of it.I’ve changed..
Since selling a large portion of my collection recently.. it’s seems to have broken the “spell” which I was under since a teenager..
I’m not watching as many guitar related videos or have any interest in guitar products or the guitar scene in general. This is a little worrying tbh.. as playing instruments (drums, bass n guitar) is all I know and is my only hobby.. since the spell was broken I find myself drifting into the news media world and listening to the narrative.. which as we all know is utter bullshit.. this in turn made me not want to interact on the LPF..
So.. was selling 3/4ths of my guitars a good thing..?
actually no.. as having a lot of them on the stands to choose from.. was a big part of the passion.. and with the rack only having three guitars to choose from lessons the passion.

Bonjour.
I have to say.. weirdly it’s not the selling of the guitars that’s made me a tad sad.. it’s what the selling has done to my perception of the guitar world.. as I feel I’m on the outside looking in now.. and see it as somewhat frivolous and dare I say pointless (to the point of GAS). I still have 5 guitars, all of which I’ll probably never sell.. and obviously still play them.. my task now is to get back into the scene, all be it with a different perspective, and acquire a few more guitars, but not fillers (even though those I sold we’re great guitars) that get played and mean more to me than before.Interesting post Marc. Sorry you seem to be sad. Perhaps you will snap out of it.
I think all the time about selling guitars and amps, although I have fewer of each than I used to. I like to think I have a use for each instrument and amplifier but there is no doubt that I could get by with half of the current population.
Curiously, for the last year I have been thinking of selling my 2017 American Vintage ´59 Stratocaster, since I almost never play it. Then last week I took it to a workshop and played it every day all week. I guess I am keeping it…….for the time being…
I have never really regretted selling anything, as I sold things I wasn’t using. What’s to be sorry about in those cases?
As always, I mostly regret the things I could have bought, but didn’t buy……..
As far as this place changing, well of course it has! Nothing remains the same, not even any of us. I still love guitars and Les Pauls but I definitely spend less time obsessing over them. I have been a member on this forum for longer than I have been on any other forum. Some of the changes are for the better!
And on we go…….Happy New Year all!
