• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hiya chaps,
There seem to be plenty of threads around championing the SLE101s (?), but can't find a thing regarding the KZ115. I've listened to a couple of youtube clips - one not so good, one outstanding, which goes to show you CAN make a sows ear from a silk purse.
Reason I'm interested in these specifically is that they're not the typical 8.xk/7.xk-bridge/neck formulaic set of PAF-a-likes.
Anyone out there using these pickups?
Cheers

Hiwatts are criminally underrated. Marshall’s get most of the love in Les Paul circles, but I’ll take a Hiwatt over a Marshall any day. Over anything, really. Love love love them.
But they are so close and really in the same ball park as amps go .

Think so? I’m not sure. I mean, both are obviously British, but their response, tonal spectrum, etc all are different to me. The CP especially…it’s almost more of a blackface Fender than a Marshall.

The Koss set are fantastic. Haven’t tried the KZs. The Koss set are A2 with a higher output neck pickup. Neck is still clear and bell like and the bridge can push an amp and really bark

Thanks for the replies.
Just read the background to the Koss pups - fascinating stuff - and whilst I'm not chasing anyone's specific tone, they're just a 'whacky' enough spec, in the 'repaired' format to pique my interest...
Hmmm? :coffee:

I wasn’t out to cop Koss’ tone. I was just looking for a set of A2 pickups and decided on the Koss Set over Jon’s other A2 offerings. If anything, I was shooting for Clapton Fresh Cream tones.
