If you are into vintage Gibson gear you just might find this video interesting. It shows the buffing process Gibson used for P.A.F. pickup covers. The buffing process itself is an important part of the vintage look of ThroBak MXV P.A.F. pickup covers. I feel very lucky that this local shop still carries on with the same hand process they did for Gibson Kalamazoo for decades.

If you are looking for a great P.A.F. reproduction or just need a great reproduction pickup cover check them out! www.throbak.com

It is pretty cool! However I got really excited today when I found 6000 round, slot head screws from 1949 and bought them. They are exactly the same as the ones on 50's P-90's! Sad but true.

Thank goodness for old-fashioned bad inventory control. Remarkable that great old NOS parts like that are still coming to light.

Every P90-sized pickup cavity on every guitar I have is already filled with a 1950s P90 . . . and I'm still excited about the arrival of the Throbak P90s!

Wow. Great stuff all the way around. You have one of my '55 P90 covers for examination, and I know you're doing your homework. I guess this means your P90s will be even closer to the real thing.

The 55' covers you supplied were a big help. I also have a set of 56' covers that I used to sort out what the final color should be.

The P-90's are super close to ready. I'm just waiting on the final run of plastic part then they are set to go. I wanted to offer a few cover options which slowed down the tooling a bit. I'm pretty excited about how they have turned out.

Something tells me a bunch of us are even more excited that you're excited.
Yeah, like me! Even though all my P-90 guitars have old Gibson P-90's, something tells me that these will be killer and I'll put a set in my R-4! I had three sets of early Pat# humbuckings before Jon started selling his pickups. Now, I just kept the one set with black bobbin leads, same bobbins as PAF's, in fact everything is the same as PAF's except the stupid stickers. Jon's sound better. I just put the Pat. #'s in a box and will save them...
