• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I'm starting to look for a new Lester, I love Tom Doyle's work but of course I can't play one or give it the once over in the UK. Anybody with experience of both, which guitar would you go for and why?
Thanks

I only have experience of the Murphy lab, I really like the lacquer, both looks and feel. Reading the details of the time machine, it reads like they leave the original lacquer on, just sand it way thinner. I think the Doyle will be more individual looking, the Labs have a look to them that makes it look like the are made using a specific set of aging templates. The custom shop seems to be producing consistent good quality right now. So I don't think either will be bad choices. That doyle looks to be a pricy landed option once duty and vat added.

Thanks - I've owned a few Murphy's but I've seen some cracking Doyles as well, just not in person.
