• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

not only is tom one of the most generous burst guys on the planet, he's also a tone maven. check the 2 johan gustavsson guitars with the bursts.

i met johan on this board, back in 2001. his guitars continue to fuel my music. great to see tom's enthusiasm for this extraordinary builder.

The JG's always really stand out. Congrats :salude

What are the necks like? Vintage/traditional or more modern?

Basically mine feel vintage/traditional.
However, I am sure Johan will custom shape them on demand.

johan's vintage neck shape vocabulary is expansive. he does, as tom stated, have the ability to shape necks to custom specs. the first guitar that johan built for me has a massive offset v.

he has gone far beyond simply offering custom neck shapes.

Obviously the JG's have amazing build quality... Having worked closely with both luthiers, do you have a preference between JG and Probett :hmm

What exactly is an "offset V?" Is the back of the neck asymmetrical?

yes. the peak of the v is between the a and d strings. the back of the neck on the treble side peaks out right behind the binding, on the treble side.

Interesting. I love V necks. Have them on all of my Fenders and my only Dean. Never heard of the offset one. Would love to see how that feels. :salude
