Hello, I am writing to you fellow forum members because I went today to buy a 1959 Les Paul Standard Factory Burst Ultra Light Aged - Factory Burst Murphy Lab and I have noticed that on the cover there are a series of lines that according to the seller they tell me are the grains of the wood (Photo 1 attached, check the green circles), which is not a manufacturing defect, nor does it affect the sound. Is it really like that? Can I buy it in peace? That is, some Murphy Lab lids may have these veins and others may not? That simple?
Then I compared it to the one published on Gibson's website https://www.gibson.com/es-ES/p/Electric-Guitar/CUSQ5J879/Factory-Burst (photo 2) and I don't see those veins. What do you think?
I would really appreciate your help, cause here in Barcelona we don't have to many model for choose.

Best regards
Ramón

My Murphy Lab R9 has those marks too as well as many ML's I have seen and played. This is normal in maple and as Fred Rogers already stated they are known as Mineral streaks and to many are desirable, If you look at several old original 1959 Bursts you will see them on those as well.

My Custom Shop LP has them too. I would suggest asking whether there is any aging on the back of the neck that you would actually feel while playing if that may be important to you. But that is a Beautiful guitar. Hope you enjoy it!

My R9 is rife with them. It adds to the beauty of the guitar. Oh, great looking guitar by the way. One of my favorite tops.
